What is the difference between a regular haircut and a skin fade?

A regular haircut leaves visible hair at the shortest point and costs $40. A skin fade blends the sides down to bare skin for stronger contrast and costs $50 at Aventura Barber Studio.

Choose a regular haircut for a softer finish

A regular haircut uses clippers and scissors while leaving some visible hair at the shortest point. It can include a taper or graduated sides, but it does not blend all the way down to bare skin.

This is usually the better option for a classic business cut, a softer grow-out, or clients who prefer less contrast between the sides and the top.

Choose a skin fade for maximum contrast

A skin fade removes the hair down to the skin at the lowest section and gradually blends upward. It creates a sharper, cleaner contrast and can be placed low, mid, or high.

Skin fades generally show growth sooner because the starting point is completely bare. If you want to maintain the freshly faded appearance, you may need appointments more frequently than with a regular haircut.

What should I select on Booksy?

Choose Regular Men’s Haircut for a conventional cut or taper that does not go to bare skin. Choose Skin Fade for skin, burst, or razor-fade work. If beard grooming is also needed, select the matching haircut-and-beard combination.
